Hey, your skin looks amazing from this product!!! I'm starting accutane next month I see my doc again. I'm nervous about the blood tests because I am scared of needles and all the work that goes into this before you can even get your prescription is scary to me. I don't want to start a product that could give me even bigger problems later on such as: Liver Toxins or High Cholesterol!) However, there is a risk in taking any type of medication and I hope my fear of needles will go away since I do have to get blood tests every month.

I don't have really bad acne, but at times it can flair up and the pimples get bigger and bigger. I never know how my skin will react each day its different. One day my skin is clear and beautiful and the next it's breaking out and I'm like ahhhhhh!!!!! Why is this happening when yesterday I was fine?

I was on Doxycycline for awhile and had to stop taking it because I had infections from this medicine. Proactiv did help my acne, but it was very drying to my skin. My skin is highly sensitive to Benzyl Peroxide and I could barely open my mouth to smile or eat it would start cracking. After stopping Proactiv, I found my skin breaking out in spots I never had before starting it. My skin became addicted to this product and never used it again.

I would define my skin as being oily and a few hours after washing my skin it would be oily in the T-Zone area. I started using this product called All Clear which comes in a scrub, gel, moisturizing lotion. It has NO Benzyl Peroxide in it however it was still drying to my skin so i stopped using it. I always thought that very dry skin was better than oily skin which is stupid I know. All I want is a fresh face and my skin tone back to normal :)

I am in beauty school right now which is something I am worried about now. The dryness, my acne getting worse before it gets better, and joint pain. I just started beauty school so by the time I'm done with accutane I will be working with clients on the floor. I am grateful that my body DOES NOT break out!!! My face is my only problem and I just wish my skin tone was as beautiful as it was in high school.

I am happy for you that this product was such a success for you and thank you for making this journal it was nice to read up on your experience.

If anyone has any advice for me or can relate to what I am going through I would be happy to talk to you because at times I feel completely alone.

Sincerely,
Sara

Hey, thanks for making this journal. I'm about to start taking accutane and it was really interesting reading your journal. Your skin looks fabulous in these photos! I wonder if you could update on your skin now? Is your skin still smooth and acne free?

Yes, I have taken Accutane before. The experiences documented on this website are from my second course of Accutane. I did one course when I was 17, which kept my skin very clear for about 7 years. After that time I did start breaking out again, though not nearly as bad as when I was 17. I was under an extreme amount of stress in my mid to late 20's, so that may have had something to do with it, but I ended up doing another course of Accutane when I was 28. I am now 31 and my skin is still very clear!

Typically, a course of Accutane is 20 weeks long. Although there is technically no "cure" for acne, many people do experience a complete or partial remission of acne after taking Accutane. For me personally, I did one course of Accutane when I was 17, and that kept my skin very clear for about 7 years. After that time I did start breaking out again, though not nearly as bad as when I was 17. When I was 28 I did another course of Accutane, which is what is documented on this website. I am now 31 and still have clear skin!

Yeah thanks for writing this. It gives me hope. I've dealt with acne for 3 years and it has limited my life in so many ways. Even starting Accutane made me feel sad, like it might not work, or something. Your blog made me feel so much better. For some reason I was really getting down about the side effects: The dry lips, peeling skin, and SUPER bad dandruff. Hearing you went through all the same things made me feel so much better. Thanks!

I'm about to start accutane in 30 days (because of the whole iPledge process) and I still am skeptical about it and i don't understand how long i'll have to take this for and if it cures acne for the future as well. when i stop taking it. Would you happen to know? OH, and you should post pre accutane pictures as well to compare the before and after on here! :)
